Den Hert

Den Hert, along with Joannahoeve on Vlimmersebaan, is the oldest stone building in Lille. This building with thick walls and spacious cellars was successively called Den Herberg, De Afspanning, De Brouwerij and Het Herenhuis.

The property was built by Peeter Proost, a prominent lord who was raised to the peerage by the Spanish king in 1642. In 1617, Peeter Proost sold Den Hert to his son Johan de Proost, builder of Hof d'Intere. In 1682, the heirs of Johan de Proost sold Den Hert due to financial difficulties. In 1753, the Vereet family of teachers came into possession of the building. Until 1948, the building was used as a brewery, tavern, and mansion.

Now home brewery Florik has moved in.
