Our region has generated a wealth of fantastic old folk tales. Many of these are in danger of being lost, which would be sad. Het Land van Playsantiën decided it was time to give these stories the attention they deserve again. We linked the stories to the beautiful routes available to cyclists in our region. So get on your bike, and enjoy those great stories!
Old stories and anecdotes were collected. They are mostly stories that date back to the days of storytelling around the fireplace in winter and under a leafy tree in summer, passed down from father to son and from mother to daughter. The authors are unknown and were always adapted by the narrator to the audience; sometimes sweet, sometimes frightening, sometimes fiercely exaggerated and sometimes simply told.
It all resulted in three experiential cycling routes that feature these stories. The route is designed to take you past some intriguing places where the mysterious atmosphere has lingered and which immerse you in the stories.
The three routes are based on numbered cycling nodes, and available in separate publications priced €4 each at the town hall reception (payable in cash).
