The 'Kempense Hoven' Trail Network

The Kempense Hoven Trail Network traverses all of our municipality north of the E34 motorway. It provides 460 kilometres of hiking pleasure in the heart of the Antwerp Kempen region.

The network connects the most beautiful hiking trails in Beerse, Brecht, Lille, Malle, Ranst, Rijkevorsel, Schilde, Schoten, Vosselaar and Zoersel.

The name 'hoven' refers to the 'Courts of Pleasure', the former country houses of wealthy citizens in the city of Antwerp. Here, you will find a fascinating mix of heritage and nature, from enchanting castle parks and serene abbeys to protected nature reserves. Your walk takes you along the military defence line of forts and bunkers around Antwerp, and past atmospheric cafés and cosy terraces where you can enjoy generous refreshments.

The trail network map is sold at the town hall reception (payable in cash) and online via Kempen.
It costs €8.

4,855 red-and-white signs

The trail network is structured around nodes, just like the numbered-node cycle network. You simply follow the rectangular, red-and-white signs from node to node. The Province of Antwerp Tourist Board has placed no less than 4,855 of them. You can follow the signs in two directions.
