Visbeek Valley

The Visbeek Valley is a hugely valuable and extremely varied natural area. Wetland woods, waterlogged meadows, dry and wet heathlands, and much more. You'll find it all there! The Visbeek is the lifeline of this stream valley so characteristic of the Kempen. Needless to say, it's buzzing with life, with dozens of unusual plants found in the area, along with no less than thirty species of dragonflies and several rare butterflies. A lot of bird species also use the valley as their home. However, the area's real gem is the adder, which only occurs in one other place in Flanders. To give this endangered species the best possible chances, Natuurpunt Lille is working with the Lille municipality on the 'Adder Plan'.
